Do you have a Murphy based community project that you need funded?

Well the Murphy Community Development Corporation and city of Murphy might just be able to help you out.

Those eligible for consideration are community service organization projects and community enhancement projects.

Also eligible are community groups such as neighborhood or community groups, Girl and Boy Scouts, local church groups, Murphy Historical Society, Exchange Club, nonprofit organizations and local businesses.

The MCDC and the Murphy City Council will deem if projects are eligible.

Each grant is worth a maximum of $2,500.

“We started the program last year but did not receive the interest we had hoped and revamped up our marketing, gearing efforts toward social media outlets. Board members are reaching out directly to community groups, nonprofits, etc.,” Director of Community and Economic Development Kristen Roberts said.

There are some guidelines that must be followed in order to be eligible for a grant.

  • Project must advance the goals of MCDC and City Council.
  • Project must be open to the public.
  • Project must be well planned with stated goals, objectives and evaluation measures that demonstrate impact to the community.
  • The applicant must own the land or facility where the proposed project will be located
