Young anglers flocked to the Murphy City Pond for the Feb. 20 third annual Rainbow Trout Roundup.

New for this year was a split in the fishing times for the each age division.

Fishing first was open to children ages 0 to 6, followed by 7- to 11-year-olds and ending with ages 12 to 17.

Special Events Coordinator Kayla McFarland said the response to the change was well received.

“We got some good feedback from the people that were in attendance,” she said. “Splitting up the times allowed the younger kids to get a chance to fish. All in all it was a good event.”

There were 342 anglers that fished, with 183 signing up early and 159 on the day of the event.
