Plano East’s boys’ basketball team seized sole possession of first in District 6-6A with a 55-49 win Friday over Allen, while the Lady Panthers improved to 5-3 in district play by nipping Allen 61-59.

The Panthers are now 5-1 in district play following Friday’s win, a game ahead of Allen and Plano West, each at 4-2. East resumed action Tuesday at  Flower Mound and will host Plano West on Friday, Jan. 15 to close out the first half of district competition.

The Lady Panthers began its second half Tuesday at Flower Mound and will host Plano West on Friday. Both those teams defeated East during the district’s first half. Those two are currently tied for the district lead at 6-1 – West beat Flower Mound on Friday – while East moved into fourth place with Friday’s win.
