A North Texas company will soon begin replacing about 5,300 copper water service lines throughout the city. The Murphy City Council approved the bid of nearly $6.6 million from ANA Site Construction, LLC, of Valley View to replace service lines of various size with high-density polyethylene water lines.
Director of Public Works Donald Reese said at the Tuesday, July 7, council meeting that ANA submitted the lowest of eight bids for the project, which is expected to take about 18 months to complete.
Also on the agenda, Parks & Recreation Director Matt Foster won approval for a public education campaign to let parents know that battery powered dirt bikes — e-motorcycles — are not legal for on-street use or for riding in city parks. If they don’t have pedals, they are only allowed off-road on private property, he said. E-bikes with pedals are treated as bicycles.
The educational campaign could involve signage in parks and programs at HOA’s and in schools, Foster said.
