Chamber circulating package store petition

An attempt is being made to hold a local option election to allow the retail sale of liquor in package stores.

The Murphy Chamber of Commerce is circulating a petition for the City Council to place the issue on the Nov. 3 ballot.

Voters would be asked whether they are for or against “the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages,” according to a legal notice from the Chamber published in the Murphy Monitor.
