This season was a historic one for the Plano East soccer teams.
The Panther boys qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2018, while the Lady Panthers made the regional semifinals for the first time since 2008.
Other coaches in District 6-6A took note of Plano East’s success and rewarded the Panthers with multiple selections on the all-district team.
The Lady Panthers had two superlative winners. Junior forward Lauren Delapaz was named Co-MVP of District 6-6A. She recorded a hat trick in a 7-1 win over Arlington Martin in the area round and scored on a penalty kick in a 3-2 loss to Keller in the regional semifinals. Cristy Cooley and Krasi Kolarov were named Coaching Staff of the Year.
Senior forward Alexa Perreira, senior midfielders Sydney Reichert and Maheeera Dali, and senior defenders Avleen Randhawa and Brianna Malczewski were named to the first team. Senior defender Madison Raines, sophomore defender Mia Heredia, sophomore midfielder Lila Hays, and sophomore forwards Aliya Jacob, Lauren Thompson and Nicol Romero earned second-team honors.
Junior midfielder Ellie Armstrong, sophomore midfielders Bella Patzkowski, Grace Chau and Madison Reichert, senior goalkeeper Simone Heard and junior forward Tory Robinson received honorable-mention honors.
Plano East had 13 players honored on the all-6-6A team in Justin Bailey’s first season as head coach.
Plano East featured one of the top defenders in District 6-6A. Garrett Cardwell, a junior, was named the district’s Goalkeeper of the Year. Cardwell recorded seven clean sheets and allowed just 15 goals — the lowest total of any goalkeeper in 6-6A. His efforts helped lead the Panthers to their first postseason appearance since 2018.
Senior midfielder Myles Dennis, junior center back Esdras Mercado, junior center attacking midfielder Kolby Lee and senior left back Jordy Rocha were named to the first team. Senior right wings Brendan Gillum and Gabe Lloyd, senior striker Brandon Cazeault and senior center midfielder Gael Torres were named to the second team.
Sophomore striker Larkin Ma-hain, senior center back Luca Cortesano, junior left wing Erik Ledezma and sophomore right back Josh Fonseca earned honorable-mention honors.
