The battle to stop a densely-populated development between Parker and Murphy — which could include its own wastewater treatment plant — is continuing. But the city of Murphy has withdrawn from the fight.
“While the city continues to oppose the creation of Collin County MUD No. 7, it no longer wishes to participate as a party in these proceedings,” the city said in a March 18 filing with the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
Murphy, Parker and individual protestants have opposed the 103-acre Restore the Grasslands (RTG) development since it was planned in 2021.
When neither city agreed to provide sewer service, RTG won permission from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to build a wastewater treatment plant that could dump up to 200,000 gallons of treated effluent into Maxwell Creek every day.
