The Murphy City Council has accepted the Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report after receiving an unmodified or clean report from auditors Weaver & Tidwell, LLP.
“The report card for the type of report is an unmodified opinion,” Brent Young of Weaver said at the Tuesday, March 3, meeting. “That means it’s a clean opinion. There’s no changes needed to the financial statements to be in accordance with the accounting standards. There were no material weaknesses identified, no significant deficiencies and there were no noncompliance material to the financial statements.”
Murphy Finance Director Berna Fitzpatrick-Walker thanked Assistant Finance Director Paulette Overman and Weaver’s Mateo Key, who was in charge of conducting the audit.
The city’s financial report said that at the end of FY25, the unassigned fund balance for the General Fund was $11,621,563, an increase of $593,819 from the prior year. He said the FY25 fund balance represented 58% of General Fund expenditures, which exceeds council policy of a 20% minimum.
