Veterans, city staff, councilmembers and the board of the Murphy Veterans Tribute (MVT) broke ground Monday, Feb. 9, at the tribute’s site in front of City Hall.
The project, begun nine years ago, is expected to be completed this spring with placement of a monument, benches honoring service branches and a walkway of pavestones commemorating individual veterans.
“This day has been a long time coming,” said MVT President Mary Pat Elledge.
