The Plano Independent School District says its schools and facilities will remain closed through Tuesday, Jan. 27. All district and campus activities are also canceled through Tuesday.
The decision to extend school closure was made due to freezing temperatures and current snow and ice accumulation, the district said in a social media post Sunday, Jan. 25..
“Based on current weather forecasts, temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by Tuesday afternoon,” the district said. “At this time, we anticipate classes will be held as scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The district said it would will continue to closely monitor conditions in consultation with local emergency personnel, and any updates regarding Wednesday will be communicated to families and staff on Tuesday.
