County population nearing 1.3 million

Two Collin County cities doubled in population over the past five years while the county grew overall by 19.6% from 2020 to 2025, according to the latest figures from the Texas Population Estimates Program.

The program, run by the Texas Demographic Center, estimated the county’s January 2025 population at 1,272,999, with 184,657 new residents in the last five years.

According to the November estimates, Wylie grew by 9.1% over the past five years, with 5,223 new residents for a January 2025 population of 62,749.

Sachse’s growth rate was estimated at 7.6% from 2020 to 2025, adding 2,071 people for a January total of 29,174.

Murphy had an estimated total of 21,194 people in January, adding 181 over the past five years for a 0.9% growth rate.
