Murphy residents observed Texas Arbor Day by planting trees in Central Park and Timbers Nature Preserve.
Skies were overcast and the temperature was a pleasant 55 degrees as neighborhood and family teams joined Parks & Recreation workers in placing dozens of trees in the two parks.
Parks & Rec Director Matt Foster was joined at Timbers by the middle two of his four sons, Prysen, who just turned 7, and Brennan, who will be 9 later this month.
Three different families were represented as 8-year-old Samuel helped Elise and Aspen spread and tamp down mulch around the base of a newly planted tree.
