In the annual report on Murphy’s economic development, Reagan Rothenberger said Murphy’s population was estimated at 22,866 people with an average household income of $160,470 and an average home value of $620,000. Two-thirds of residents had at least an associate’s degree.
The city’s retail trade area had a population of more than 207,000, a median age of 37 or above and an average household income of $127,868. Two-thirds of retail purchases were made in stores and one-third online, he said at the Tuesday, Oct. 7, Murphy City Council meeting.
