Plano East couldn’t overcome three costly turnovers and fell 42-32 to rival Plano West on Friday night at Tom Kimbrough Stadium.
The Panthers (0-4, 0-2 District 6-6A) outgained Plano West (4-0, 2-0) 438-325 but lost the turnover battle 3-0. Each giveaway led to a Wolves score.
Plano East led 10-7 midway through the second quarter after a 46-yard field goal by Christian Garcia. That’s when Plano West started to pull away, scoring on two consecutive possessions to take a 21-10 lead into halftime. The Panthers cut it to 28-24 midway through the third quarter, but two fumble returns for touchdowns sealed the win for Plano West.
Treyce Seldon had a strong night on the ground, rushing for 178 yards on 16 carries and scoring once. Plano West limited Josh Gordon and the Plano East passing attack to just 132 yards through the air.
Plano East has now lost seven consecutive games dating to last season. The Panthers will try for their first victory of the year next week on the road at Prosper.
