Plano ISD says classes at Plano East Senior High School have been canceled for Thursday, Sept. 11, because of electrical problems. The closure is isolated to the Plano East campus only.
On Wednesday, the campus experienced an electrical outage caused by damaged underground lines. Despite extensive overnight efforts by Oncor Electric, Excel Electric, Able Electric and district facilities personnel, full power to the building has not yet been restored. Additional time is required to complete repairs safely and thoroughly, the district said.
As a result, all student activities scheduled on the Plano East campus today are canceled. Off-site athletic events will proceed as planned, with details communicated directly by the appropriate head coach.
District staff, along with outside contractors, are working around the clock to restore full power and ensure building systems, including air conditioning, are operating safely. Plano ISD will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide an update to families later today regarding classes on Friday, Sept. 12.
