Dozens of residents turned out Saturday, July 26, for the first forum to collect community input for Murphy’s new comprehensive plan.
Murphy residents are being asked about their favorite shops and restaurants as well as how they would like to see the city continue to develop.
Murphy has not conducted a full-scale revision of its comprehensive plan since 2008, due in part to sustained population and economic growth that left little time for long-range review.
But with fewer than 100 acres of undeveloped land remaining, city officials say redevelopment and reinvestment will be central themes of the new plan being formulated.
“Plan Murphy” will address a range of community priorities, including land use and community design, economic vitality, mobility and connectivity, infrastructure, and the identification of strategic “Murphy Opportunity Districts.”
