The city of Murphy has launched an ambitious effort to update its comprehensive plan, a guiding document that will shape growth, land use, infrastructure and public investment in the city over the next 15 to 20 years.
Known as “Plan Murphy,” the project will run for approximately 10 months and culminate in a new master plan, expected to be considered for adoption in spring 2026.
City leaders encourage residents, business owners and other stakeholders to take part in the planning process, which aims to reflect the community’s values and vision for a rapidly maturing city nearing full build-out.
“This is a critical opportunity to help define the vision and create the roadmap for Murphy’s sustainable future,” Councilmember Ken Oltmann said. “Looking forward to contributing to discussions that will impact everything from infrastructure to green spaces and economic development.”
The first community engagement effort will be a forum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Murphy Activity Center, 201 N. Murphy Road. The event will feature interactive stations and activities.
