Plano East alumna pitcher Jadyn Dawson added another postseason accolade to her collection Tuesday.
Dawson was one of 14 players from across the state that were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 6A Super Elite team.
Named the most valuable player of District 6-6A, Dawson, an Abilene Christian University signee, was the catalyst behind a potent Plano East offense that averaged 7.7 runs per ballgame. Hitting in the No. 3 spot in the Lady Panthers’ batting order, she was a force to be reckon with. She led the team in batting average (.458) and home runs (14).
Opposing teams feared Dawson’s hitting abilities so much that they didn’t bother to pitch to her at time, especially during the postseason. In seven playoff games, she drew 13 walks, many of the intentional variety. For the season, she was issued a whopping 43 walks.
Dawson also served as the ace of the Plano East pitching staff. The senior right-hander finished her final season donning a Lady Panthers’ uniform with a 19-7 record, 3.39 earned-run average and tallied 182 strikeouts against 73 walks and 134 runs (82 earned) in 169.1 innings.
Plano East made the playoffs for the first time since 2017, competed in their first regional final since 2012 and finished the season with an overall record of 25-12.
