A 31-year-old Murphy man has been arrested following an alleged attack on a teacher at Boggess Elementary School, records show.
The teacher told police a man approached her in the school parking lot about 11:15 a.m. Thursday, May 22, and began a conversation.
She said that as she turned to enter the building, the man grabbed her from behind and attempted to drag her away.
The teacher said she bit his hand, and the man fled with her cell phone as school officials responded to her screams for help.
The school was briefly placed on lockdown as police sought a suspect.
Officers later located the phone, which had a tracking application, and arrested Daniel C. Okungbowa at a nearby residence.
Court records show he was released after posting bond of $21,000 on charges of robbery and theft of property greater than or equal to $100, but less than $750.
Boggess Elementary released a statement saying the alleged incident did not involve students, but counseling was being provided for any student who may have witnessed it.
