The Plano East softball team needed a seventh-inning rally to defeat Hebron 6-5 in the bi-district round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs.
The Lady Panthers didn’t need another late-game rally in the area round. In fact, Plano East needed just five innings to oust South Grand Prairie.
Sophomore Julia Wilson hit the game-ending RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning to lift the Lady Panthers to a 10-0 victory over the Lady Warriors in Game 2 last Friday to complete the sweep of the best-of-three series.
Plano East (25-9) will play Euless Trinity in the regional semifinals. Game 1 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity. Game 2 is 6 p.m. Friday at Plano East. Game 3, if necessary, is 10 a.m. Saturday at a location to be determined.
