Incumbent Jene’ Butler wants to continue to serve

Place 6 Councilmember Jené Butler says traffic congestion is one of the most pressing issues facing the city as it continues it build out while surrounding areas grow.

“With this increased congestion comes significant wear and tear on our roads,” she says. “It’s clear that we need to find innovative and effective solutions to address traffic challenges and ensure the proper upkeep of our infrastructure.”

Butler, the city’s deputy mayor pro tem, is seeking re-election to a third term on council.

“I have been able to accomplish so many things and still have much more to accomplish,” she says. “One of my goals is to see H-E-B established and to witness the benefits it will bring to our community.”

As director at large for the Murphy Chamber of Commerce, Butler says, “Economic growth creates jobs, strengthens local revenue and enhances the quality of life for residents.”

She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, Master of Science in nursing as a family nurse practitioner, post-masters certificate in nursing education, Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an MBA from the University of Hartford. 

“I have a wealth of experience and knowledge that helps me navigate challenges and make informed decisions,” Butler says. “It has also deepened my understanding of the needs and aspirations of our city.”

Butler’s opponent in the Saturday, May 3, general election is Qasim Rasul.

Thursday, April 3, is the last day to register to vote and early voting will be April 22-29 at the Murphy Activity Center, with the exception of Sunday, April 27.
