New Murphy Fire Chief Perry Elliott has been sworn in as successor to Chief Del Albright, who retired at the end of last year.
Elliott, who joined the Murphy department in 2011, had been the fire marshal. He began his career as a firefighter/paramedic with the Sherman Fire Department, eventually becoming fire marshal and assistant chief. He also served with the Kerrville and Melissa fire departments.
Also on the meeting of the Tuesday, March 4, Murphy City Council, an auditor reported the Murphy Police Department was in full compliance with state reporting laws and had received no complaints of racial profiling during 2024.
