ALLEN – Plano East was eliminated from the playoffs with a 48-7 loss to the Allen Eagles Thursday night, finishing 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the competitive District 6-6A.  Allen had already clinched the district title and finished the regular season undefeated.

Trailing 13-0 in the 2nd quarter, East was facing a fourth-and-six from their 29-yard line and lined up in punt formation but the ball was snapped to Akani Cruz-Berrios who broke through the line of scrimmage and raced 40 yards to the Allen 31-yard line.

Three plays later, quarterback Jackson Hayes found running back Travis Agee out of the backfield and Agee fought through a tackle to score on a 14-yard reception.  Kicker Blake Latourneau’s extra point closed the score to 13-7.  Agee, one of the leading rushers in the area for 6A, had 32 rushing yards in the game and finished the season with 1,297.

On Allen’s next possession the East defense continued to be difficult, forcing Allen into a fourth-and-one at midfield.  With 1:35 left in the half Allen chose to go for the first down instead of punting and Jaden Hambric broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage to gain seven yards and a first down at the East 42-yard line.  The next play Hambric broke a tackle and raced 42-yards for a score, extending Allen’s lead to 20-7.
