Lewisville and Plano East had been district rivals on the volleyball court from 2020 to 2023 before the UIL placed them in opposing districts earlier this year as part of the association’s bi-annual realignment plan.
Those two teams renewed their rivalry during Monday’s Class 6A-Div. I bi-district playoff game at Hebron High School.
And just like during previous years, Plano East again emerged victorious, with the Lady Panthers earning a dominant 25-9, 25-10, 25-14 win over a Lady Farmers team that was making their first playoff appearance since 1997.
Sophomore Grace Pinegar and junior Simone Heard both finished with double-digits in kills. Sophomore libero Dakota Huynh played excellent defense, head coach Sarah Perez said. Junior Emma Reeves finished with two service aces.
Plano East (31-8) will play the Arlington Martin-Richardson winner later this week in the area round.
