Trailing 17-13 in the second set after a kill by McKinney Boyd freshman hitter Trinity Johnson, Plano East proceeded to turn things around defensively and made the same kinds of hustle plays that the Lady Broncos did leading up to that point. On one play, Lady Panthers junior Marisabelle Sias sprinted 10 feet in less than two seconds toward the Plano East team bench to make a pass to keep the play alive.

Effort plays like the one that Sias made ignited a 12-4 Lady Panthers run to end the middle set, and Plano East rode that momentum into the third set where they proceeded to polish off a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-21, 25-13) of the Lady Broncos on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from McKinney Boyd.

Junior outside hitter Simone Heard recorded eight of her 16 kills in the first set.
