Maize Days will end with a really big bang. The Murphy City Council has approved a permit for a fireworks show concluding the festival on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Manager of Recreation Services Kayla McFarland said Pyro Shows of Texas will present a 13- to 15-minute full production fireworks display with a minimum of 120 2.5-inch and 520 3-inch shells for the main body of the show and a minimum of 240 3-inch shells for the finale.
Also at the Tuesday, Aug. 6, meeting, council approved a three-year contract with Pyro Shows, with an option for two additional years.
