Residential water and sewer rates will be going up in October, but the Murphy City Council has not yet decided how much.
Chris Ekrut, chief financial officer at NewGen Strategies & Solutions reported to the Tuesday, July 16, council meeting on anticipated cost increases and potential rate adjustments for the coming fiscal year.
Council will discuss water and sewer rates at a Monday, July 29, budget workshop at 6 p.m. in the Community Room, 206 N. Murphy Rd.
Councilmembers also agreed to allocate nearly $467,000 for a new Fire Department ambulance to be delivered in or after FY 2026. Manufacturing delays have caused lengthy lead times for firefighting vehicles and the ambulance would not be paid for until it was delivered.
