Football is back at Plano East, as the Panthers opened spring practices in April. Over a 31-day span, the football players will take part in nine practices, two intersquad scrimmages and a spring game, which comes on Thursday, May 16.
Last week, the guys were hard at work, as they’ve been since April 16, though weather has not always made it easy with several storms hitting the area over the last few weeks. Still, the rain has helped keep the temperature from getting into 90’s thus far, making for an ideal environment to compete on the gridiron.
And competition is what is going on during these sessions. Last week’s sessions were full of high energy and intensity, with players flying around looking to make a name for themselves.
Most importantly, guys are pushing one another to be their best if they want to earn a key role going into next season. That is what Coach Tony Benedetto is looking for on the practice field.
“The goal of the spring for us is to find out who our starters will be next fall,” Coach Benedetto said.
