Murphy Veterans Tribute memorial pavestones

by | May 2, 2024 | Area News

The Murphy Veterans Tribute plans to update city councilmembers on the project at their Tuesday, May 21, meeting.
The mission of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit is “to provide a welcoming environment for visitors to give honor, respect and gratitude to all veterans; and the opportunity to educate future generations as to the price paid for the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy today.”
The city of Murphy set aside a 100-by-100-foot plot next to the amphitheater in Central Park after the project launched in 2017.
The design of the tribute features a ring of honor encircling a grassy area with three flagpoles for a U.S. flag, the Texas flag and a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action flag.
Fundraising includes the sale of 8-inch-square pavestones marked with a veteran’s name, rank, service branch and years of service. The $200 memorials may be ordered online from MurphyVeteransTribute.org.
