New staff, mural for city; development fight continues

The city of Murphy underwent leadership changes in 2023 as City Manager Mike Castro resigned in August and will be succeeded in the new year by Aretha Adams, the city manager in Heath.

Former Sachse and Stephenville City Manager Allen Barnes has been at the helm in the interim.

Police Chief Chris Chandler left the city for a similar position in Fairview and former Bedford and Gunter Police Chief Jeff Gibson has been serving as interim chief.
