Facing two big tests in the first weekend of the season, Plano East passed with flying colors.
The No. 8 Panthers, loaded with returning talent, traveled to North Crowley for the Cowtown Tip-Off on Saturday, Nov. 11. There, they faced No. 18 Allen in the opening game of the season, winning 80-70.
Allen held the advantage for the majority of the second and third quarters, but a 24-13 run for Plano East in the fourth was the difference. The Panther’s defense was also a major factor late in the game, recording 11 steals in a physical contest to slow down the Eagles’ scorers.
