Until now, food trucks have been allowed in Murphy only during special events. But the Murphy City Council has updated the “food establishment” ordinance to provide standards for food trucks to operate elsewhere. The change was made at the regular council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Jared Mayfield, director of community and economic development, said the new regulations cover where and when licensed mobile food units may set up. The rules also provide for the establishment of food truck parks, Mayfield said.
