Drew Devillier (5) completed 10 of 16 passes for 91 yards at Coppell
COPPELL – The Cowboys started fast and furious on the way to a 35-7 win over the Panthers Friday night.
Coppell (4-0, 6-0) scored on its first four possessions and forced four straight Plano East (2-2, 4-3) punts, jumping to a 28-0 lead at the break.
Despite the Cowboys’ starting quarterback Edward Griffin going down with an injury late in the first half, the team managed to move the ball throughout the game. Griffin completed 16 of 18 passes and threw two touchdowns prior to the injury.
Plano East continued to compete in the second half after being outgained 324-20 yards in the first half. Desmond Smith scored a touchdown late in the third quarter to put the Panthers on the board late.
With the loss, Plano East finds itself on the outside of the playoff picture with three games remaining. The team heads back to Kimbrough Stadium this Friday to face Plano West.
