Property owners will get a break in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 as the Murphy City Council adopted a lower tax rate despite a budget that will spend 1.7% more.
Nobody showed up to speak at council’s public hearings at the Tuesday, Sept. 5, meeting at which councilmembers adopted a $52.56 million budget for all funds and a tax rate of just under 41 cents per $100 appraised value of property. The fiscal year starts Oct. 1 and runs through Sept. 30, 2024.
