The last agricultural tract in the city of Murphy has been rezoned for a housing development on the northwest corner of the intersection of Betsy Lane and North Murphy Road.
The 9-acre tract has been the location of Southfork Animal Clinic, started 43 years ago by veterinarian Lorraine Chalkley. She sold the property to developer Syed Hussain, president and CEO of First Crescent Enterprises after his previous plans for 46-home and 39-home communities failed to win approval from the Murphy Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission.
