The Murphy Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission has endorsed a plan to re-zone the city’s last remaining agricultural tract for a housing development. The proposal now goes before City Council.
For nearly a year, developer Syed Hussain had sought approval for a residential community on the northwest corner of Betsy Lane and North Murphy Road.
The development, to be called Southfork Estates, will have 27 homes on nine acres now occupied by the Southfork Animal Clinic.
The proposal, approved at the Monday, June 26, P&Z meeting, was carried over from the May meeting to give Hussain time to revise his site plan to meet code requirements for Single-Family Residential (SF-9) zoning.
