A Texas tourist drowned Tuesday, June 20, in the Gulf of Mexico off Orange Beach, Alabama, authorities said.
Van Hung Pham, 47, of Murphy, was pulled from the water about 5:50 p.m. by Orange Beach Surf Rescue, Baldwin County Coroner Brian Pierce said.
Rescuers initiated life-saving measures and Pham was transported to the Gulf Shores Freestanding Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m., Pierce said.
Orange Beach police said there was no additional investigation. Orange Beach Surf Rescue had warned of high surf and-or strong currents at the time of Pham’s death.
