In the Region I-6A meet at UT Arlington on April 28-29, Plano East had several athletes competing for state.
Leading the way for the Panthers was their 4×200 regional championship relay team. The team of Quincy Baggett, Ezra O’Neal III, Doryian Marshall and Jaylon Hatcher took home the gold in the event (1:26.23), finishing 0.14 seconds ahead of Arlington Bowie, who placed second overall. The group shattered the previous school record and hopes to compete at the state level, entering as one of the top seeds.
Along with the relay team, O’Neal III also competed in the triple jump regional championship, placing sixth overall (44-06.5). The Panthers also placed fourth in the 4×100 relays (41.66), missing out on state qualification by 0.14 seconds.
Qualifiers will compete at the state championships on Saturday, May 13th in Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
