No. 11 Plano East cruised into the area round with a 69-52 win over McKinney Boyd Monday night.
For their efforts, the Panthers draw No. 1 Lake Highlands, who won Tuesday night over Arlington Bowie to set up the matchup of state hopefuls in the area round. The two sides will face off Friday night at the Moody Coliseum Friday night at 6 p.m. for their playoff matchup.
The last time Lake Highlands and Plano East faced off, the Wildcats won 66-49 at the Allen In-N-Out Invitational over the holiday break. The Panthers have won 14 of 16 games since that mark, with their 31 wins the most for the program since 1995.
