Learn how to help yourself, your family and your community during a disaster by joining the Murphy Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The CERT Program prepares residents for hazards that may impact the area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
There is no cost to participate and no training or prior experience is required. However, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of Murphy and must pass a background check.
Something new has been added to the course this year. Individuals who find it difficult to attend in-person sessions may take a hybrid eight-week online course with two in-person tag-up sessions. A final online exam is combined with a final hands-on exam at the end of the course.
Registration for the hybrid version will remain open until March 13. More information can be obtained by contacting Murphy Fire Rescue or by calling 972-468-4300.
