Plano East survives in shootout over Naaman Forest

Plano East survives a nail-biter to win their home opener 47-40 over Garland Naaman Forest.

East (2-0) quarterback Drew Devillier throws 13 out of 24 passes for 272 yards and a season-high five touchdowns.

Three of those went to wide receiver Rushil Patel, who led the team with six catches for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Daniel Fayombo racked up 253 all-purpose yards and a combined three touchdowns in the win as well. The Panthers scored 45 or more points for the first time since the 2018 season, the last time they also started a season 2-0. 

Naaman Forest (0-2) quarterback Deangelo Perales throws 21 completions for 339 yards and five touchdowns. Perales also rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown, as the Rangers pulled back within seven points with 1:25 remaining.

Next week, the Panthers face Prosper Rock Hill at Kimbrough Stadium for their final non-district clash of the season.
