With the potential to start three seniors in the secondary, Plano East brings back plenty of depth and experience to their defensive backfield.
The Panthers return one starting safety and one starting cornerback. Dezmond Smith will start at one safety spot, he started as a sophomore last season. He’ll be joined by either senior Holden Stokes or junior Mekhi Wright, who both had varsity playing experience from 2021. Coach Tony Benedetto likes the group of payers they have, but knows the job ahead is a difficult one.
