East beats Coppell in final home game

by | Apr 28, 2022 | Latest, Sports

While still outside playoff positioning, the Plano East softball team finished the year off on a high note.

The Lady Panthers (3-9, 8-16) defeated Coppell 2-1 on Tuesday, April 19, to give the team their third win in District 6-6A. East got a strong start from pitcher Jadyn Dawson, while the team managed to hold off the Cowgirls on the defensive side of the field.

Plano East followed the win up with their final game of the season, ending the season with a 10-3 loss to playoff-bound Marcus. The Lady Marauders’ offense remains one of the top in District 6-6A, scoring 81 runs in 14 district games. Victoria Jackson-Sears managed to hit a two-run home run for East, but it wasn’t enough to bring the margin closer late.

Despite the difficult result and missing the postseason, Plano East improved their standing in district by three wins this season. Seniors Kaylee Sanchez, Payton Leonard and Ashlyn Bullington graduate this summer, while the majority of the roster will return for next season.
