Preparedness and awareness are key when it comes to planning for severe weather, especially as warmer temperatures increase the risk of thunderstorms and tornadoes.
Residents across North Texas experienced bouts of severe weather in recent weeks, including tornado watches.
Collin County Emergency Management Coordinator Randall Gurney said the more aware residents are of possible severe weather events, the more prepared they will be to handle the situation.
Gurney started with the county two years ago, but previously worked for the city of McKinney in a similar role for 11 years.
