The Panthers were cruising to a 5-2 lead in district play before the fourth inning went downhill.
Plano East (1-2, 4-9-1) gave up five runs to Lewisville in the top of the fourth inning and eventually lost 11-7. The Farmers scored those runs despite just one hit in the inning, as three batters were hit and two more were walked.
At the time, Plano East was up 5-2 in the game, thanks mainly to Brody Waid’s two hits and two RBIs to help extend the advantage. Plano East responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to trim the Lewisville lead to 8-7 but could not get any closer as the Farmers added three more runs late. Aythan Hornung was handed the loss for the Panthers, responsible for seven earned runs in the game.
Plano East will look to avenge its loss on the road to Lewisville this Friday in the second game of the series.
