A dangerous intersection prompted four Murphy Girl Scouts to take action, collect data and eventually present a solution to city council.
Four Scouts of Troop 7901 presented their findings regarding the intersection of Betsy Lane and Oriole Drive to city council during their December 2020 meeting.
The Scouts, Avleen Randhawa, Lizzie Mathes, Vienna Thompson and Kiara Leask, said they decided to focus on the unsafe crossing at the intersection for their Silver Award, one of the highest awards a Girl Scout can receive.
Many people have to cross at this intersection,” Avleen said. “But it is really difficult and unsafe for all ages as the cars on Betsy don’t slow down.”
