Lady Panthers win key district game over Coppell

by | Jan 12, 2022 | Latest, Sports

In a battle of the top two teams in District 6-6A, the Plano East Lady Panthers came out on top over the Coppell Cowgirls.

Plano East (6-0, 16-3) got off to a hot start and withheld a furious Coppell (5-1, 27-1) rally to win 42-37 Tuesday night. Seniors Donavia Hall and Ada Anamekwe scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, but the duo came up with key baskets when the team needed them most.

The Cowgirls trailed 18-2 after the first quarter and were down 14 after three, but battled back in the fourth quarter to tie the game late at 37. That’s when Anamekwe hit two free throws and Hall got a steal and layup with less than a minute remaining. Plano East sits alone on top of the District 9-6A standings and continues its 22-game district winning streak.

Plano East will travel to Marcus this Friday for their next contest.
