East outscored 22-0 in second-half of loss

by | Sep 25, 2021 | Latest, Sports

Things were looking good for Plano East in the first half.

However, the second half proved fateful as Hebron (1-3, 1-0) outscored East (1-3, 0-1) 22-0 to win the game 29-18. Ismail Mahdi accounted for 181 of the Panthers’ 274 total yards in the game.

Mahdi scored both of the team’s touchdowns, with the second score giving his team an 18-7 lead. East also scored on a 45-yard field goal from Buzz Flabiano and a safety in the first half.

In the second half, the Panthers’ turnovers and miscues proved costly. Hebron scored twice out of the break to take a 21-18 advantage; then, a bad snap had East surrender a safety to give the Hawks a five-point lead.

Still a chance to tie, a Drew DeVillier interception was returned 17 yards for a Hawks score. DeVillier threw three interceptions in the game.

Plano East will try to rebound against top-ranked Lewisville next Friday.
