Donavia Hall found the perfect transition after her senior year.
The District 6-6A MVP enters her senior season as the leader of the Plano East girls basketball team. Before playing this season, Hall decided to commit to SMU for the 2022 school year. For Hall, meeting the coaches and players showed it was the perfect spot for her to be.
“They pretty much do the same thing at SMU,” Hall said. “It was the same drills we ran at our practices last season, and it didn’t feel like it would be a big adjustment next season.”
Hall led Plano East to its first regional final appearance since 1993. She was at the front of East’s full-court press defense that gave opposing teams fits last year. With her intensity on the press, she averaged four steals per game, along with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.
“It was put pretty well in a Tweet that she’s the total package,” head coach Derrick Richardson said. “What she can do offensively, defensively and with her words is everything. Whether through her words or her actions, she brings the leadership and stability to our team.”
