City to have grand opening for Murphy Activity Center

by | Jun 10, 2021 | Latest

Murphy leaders will hold a grand opening for Murphy Activity Center, 201 N. Murphy Road, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12.

The renovation of the building was part of the 2017 Capital Bond program. Mayor Scott Bradley will be joined by members of the Murphy City Council and other officials as they cut the ribbon for the remodeled center. The public is invited to be part of the celebration.

Parks and Recreation staff members will do tours of the center, according to a news release from the city.

Murphy Activity Center’s building was acquired by the city of Murphy about 10 years ago, city officials said, pointing out the building previously housed a fitness center and was dominated by a “cavernous” main room, which served as the fitness center’s workout area. Lockers and showers for men and women were the only other usable spaces.
